Castiel twisted the blade in the witch's chest and withdrew it quickly, his sharp blue eyes following the body as it dropped. He looked up at (Name) and noticed your attention was taken by something else. Two small human children stood before you, too large clothes draped over the small bodies.

"(Name)?" Castiel's voice was loud in the silence of the warehouse where the witch had been performing her rituals only moments before.

"I think we need a holiday." You muttered looking down at the young versions of Sam and Dean, the last victims of the witch's spell.

------------

The spell lasted three days so you called Bobby and informed the older hunter of your intentions while Sam and Dean were unable to hunt. The hunter was pissed to say the least but having a pair of seven year olds, who were currently chasing each other around yelling about demons, hunting was an accident waiting to happen.

Finally, with not much help from Castiel, (Name) got the two boys strapped in the car both clad in children's swimwear. You groaned as Dean continued to argue that he should drive the 'Pala, as he continued to call it. (Name) took the keys back off the older Winchester, who had stolen them from your jacket pocket while you were strapping him into the car.

"Dean you cannot drive. You are seven years old. If you want to go to the beach you'll have to be good like Sam." Sam grinned happily as Dean glared and poked his tongue out at his younger brother, currently in the body of a five year old. Ignoring the childish fighting in the backseat you jumped into the front, dragging Castiel into the seat beside you before starting the car. A beachside motel was an hour’s drive from your current location and you headed off in that direction as Castiel stared confused at the two children.

------------

“I am never getting in a car with them again.” You muttered under your breath dragging the two Winchester’s to the motel front desk. Cas was burdened with the bags as (Name) stood as a barrier between the two brothers, whose bickering had gone on non-stop for the last hour. “One room please.” You request of the concierge, handing over a credit card and some ID.

“Will you and your husband be staying long?” The man asked and (Name) blinked. Sure you had checked Cas out, his vessel certainly wasn’t unattractive, but he was an angel and she was just some hunter that tagged along for the ride. There was no way he could ever be interested in you but the deception would suit for now, families were less suspicious in a motel.

“Only three days. Just a short holiday this time.” The man smiled pleasantly and handed you a room key.

“Enjoy your stay.”
------------

Castiel watched as (Name) took the two boys to the water’s edge and slowly guided them in, making sure they stayed in the shallower water. After a bit of time in the water Dean decided he wanted to make a sandcastle and dragged Cas to a suitable spot. The angel had been given new clothes by (Name), who had suggested that the tie and coat didn’t quite suit a beach. He was glad for it, as the weather was quite warm and the sun felt pleasant on his vessel’s skin. He glanced down at the heather grey AC/DC shirt and the black board shorts as Dean plonked himself down on the sand and began digging.

(Name) watched as Dean directed the angel to build the castle in the sand. Castiel joined in happily, discovering sand was an acceptable building material for such child’s play. (Name) smiled at the thought of Castiel with his own children, sure he had been confused at first by the Winchester’s current state, but now he was settling in and was absolutely wonderful with the kids.

“(Name)?” A voice asked, and you looked down to see Sam tugging on your shirt. “Are you okay? You look sad?” You were surprised by the question and you knelt down to Sam’s level, an action you could never get used to considering the man’s previous size.

“I’m just thinking Sammy, I’m not sad.” Sam’s eyes caught yours and it was almost like the child could see right through you.

“D’ya like Cas?” He asked in a childish voice, hazel eyes looking deep into your (e/c) ones.

“I do, Sam, I do. But I don’t know if he likes me back.” Sam responded with a gentle ‘you should ask him’, before trotting off up the beach to where his brother was playing with Castiel. You watched as the three played together, Cas inviting Sam into the group and entertaining the two boys. The perfect family from the outside and you could be a part of, that you could create with Castiel. “How about we get some ice-cream boys? Take a break from the beach while we wait for it to cool down a bit.” Cheers from the two Winchester’s as they raced towards the shops at the edge of the sand. Castiel followed along more slowly, matching pace with you as you strolled across the sand.

“You’re very good with them.” You said, glancing sideways at the angel who seemed to blush at your words.

“Everyone in Heaven takes turns to look after the fledglings. I spent many years looking after the young angels during my early years. It is much the same with Sam and Dean although I must say they are easier to look after.” You chuckled at that comment and Cas treated you with a rare smile.

------------

After ice-cream the four of you returned to the beach for the afternoon, enjoying splashing in the shallows with the children. Cas was chasing Sam across the beach, slowing his running to allow the younger brother to beat him in the race. You watched as they ran past again, Sam laughing happily in a way that you had never heard and probably would never hear again. As you turned back to the water you noticed that Dean had disappeared. Your eyes scanned the area quickly, taking in every face, every person, seeing if anyone had taken Dean.

“Dean!” You called, properly scared for the first time in your life. Suddenly the boy burst through the water, grinning until he noticed the expression on your face. “Dean!” The shout quieter now, an admonishment of the child for scaring you so, but there was a hint of relief behind the name.

“Sorry.” He muttered, knowing that he had done something wrong but not quite sure what it was. You pulled the boy close, soon joined by Castiel and Sam who had missed the entire scene.

“It’s okay. You’re safe and that’s all that matters.”
------------
The boys were tucked into bed on either side of Castiel as he read them a story kindly supplied by the motel staff. His deep voice changed to voice the characters in the book and the boys seemed to light up as he read. You smiled softly, watching as the young boys drifted off, curling into Castiel’s side as they slept. Cas’ blue eyes were soft as he took in the sleeping forms of his friends before his eyes turned to you.

“How much longer until this wears off?” Cas asked quietly as he removed himself from the bed.

“Only a few more days Castiel. Why you don’t think you can do this much longer?” You smirked and the man straightened his shirt as he moved closer.

“I almost wish it could last longer. I have never seen you so happy (Name). I would hate to see that fade once more.” You stopped in your tracks, eyes locked onto the angel’s face as he moved closer to you. ”I want to make sure you are happy, (Name).” His breath ghosted against your lips as he drew you into a soft kiss, pulling you against him as he kissed you deeper.

“Cas… I… I never knew you felt this way.”

“I’ve felt this way for a long time. I just never knew the right moment to act.”

“Well I’m glad you did.” You whispered as you leant in for another kiss.

Epilogue
------------

“Want to drive the ‘Pala, Dean?” You said grinning as you held the keys out of his reach. He groaned at the memory of his 7 year old self as Sam grinned in the corner from behind his laptop. Castiel was sitting on the edge of the bed, watching with interest and a smile at the interaction between you and Dean. In another life you could have been Dean’s younger sister for all the similarities between the two of you.

“Give me my damn car keys.” Dean growled and pinned you against the wall, tearing the keys from your grip. He grinned savagely as you attempted to fight him off. “If this were any other case this would end differently but since you and Cas had your little rendezvous I thought not to incite the wrath of Heaven.”

“What do you mean?” You asked, no longer fighting the hunter who still had you pinned.

“While you two played happy families you got a little too into it. I admit I’m happy for you, (Name). Every girl hopes to find a man who is an angel. You just went a little more literal.” You blushed and turned away slightly as Dean chuckled.

“What Dean is trying to say is congratulations.” Sam added from behind his laptop, glaring at his brother for being impolite about the conversation.

“Yeah it’s about you two stopped dancing around each other and finally got together.” Dean grinned and you pushed him off, heading towards Castiel.

“Exactly how much do you two remember?” You asked as you settled near Cas and he wrapped you into a warm embrace.

“Everything.” Dean said with a grin as Cas pulled you into a gentle kiss.

The End
Sam and Dean get hit by a witch's spell and end up being not quite themselves. You decide that a holiday is long overdue for Team Free Will.
